About

A codex for professional design practice

Design Codex was set up around a simple observation: most of the difficulty in design projects is not in the design. It is in the space between the concept and the completed building — the approvals, the consultants, the revisions, the procurement, the site.

Architects, civil engineers and interior designers are trained thoroughly in their discipline and lightly, if at all, in the discipline of running a project. Design Codex exists to close that gap with material that is specific to professional practice rather than borrowed wholesale from another industry.

Our programs are structured, sequential and taught live. They follow the arc of a real project, and every framework introduced is immediately applied to a working exercise so that participants leave with usable artefacts rather than notes.

What we hold to

Depth over breadth

We run ten focused programs, not an indiscriminate catalogue. Each one is maintained carefully and taught in small cohorts so that questions from live projects can be answered properly.

Delivery is part of design

A drawing that cannot be built on time or within budget has not finished doing its job. Our teaching treats planning, coordination and control as design responsibilities.

Honest about what we are

Design Codex is independent. We do not issue statutory qualifications or third-party certifications, and we say plainly what a program does and does not cover.

To discuss a cohort, a cross-studio session, or a collaboration, write to us at info@designcodex.in or use the contact form.
